This on-going series of paintings explores the extremes of our nature. Moments of agony and ecstasy. Private acts and desires, fetishes and fantasies, often concealed in case of judgement or reprisal. Images are magnified and painted in a pixelated form, resulting in seemingly abstract compositions, detached from their pornographic context. Yet the form of digital pixelation and resolution are now embedded in our understanding of images. So when observed, these paintings appear suggestive of an image concealed. The implication of a subject remains. They are ambiguous though, unclear and have to be considered. Nothing can be taken for granted.

I make no moral or social comment with these paintings, but see a parallel with the tradition of European religious works depicting visions of hell, martyrdom and crucifixion. Each work though, is an act of devotion, taking many months to complete.
