Annie Freud was born in London in 1948. Her father is the
painter, Lucian Freud. Her maternal grandfather was the sculptor, Sir Jacob
Epstein, and her great-grandfather was Sigmund Freud.
Annie has received great acclaim for her poetry. Her first publication was 'A
Voids Officer Achieves the Tree Pose', a pamphlet of poems with Donut Press.
Her first full collection, The Best Man That Ever Was, was published by
Picador in 2007and was a Poetry Book Society recommendation; it won the Dimplex Prize for New Writing (Poetry) in the same year.
Her work is featured on the Poetry Archive website and has appeared in many
magazines and websites. She is well known for her compelling performances and
is frequently invited to read at readings and festivals. She is currently
teaching the Advanced Class of the Poetry Writing Course at City University, London and working on her second
collection.
