Andrew Hladky

God used me as a hammer, boys : 2009 : Oil on board : 26cm x 26cm : £1,075

From an angle Hldaky’s paintings look like a stippled abstract mass of paint, but when viewed front on become intricate other-worldly landscapes. He uses a unique form of three dimensional pointillism where layers of oil paint are dabbed on top of cocktail sticks to create thousands of tiny stalactites jutting out horizontally from the painted surface. His works are a mixture of the sculptural and pictorial depicting multiple sunsets upon alien landscapes inhabited by human like figures and black worms of paint squeezed straight from the tube seemingly locked in an apocalyptic battle.
